Class dates are subject to change, please contact Debby for the latest information. Please take a few minutes to check out the directions on the Facility page to Dogwood before the first night of class and feel free to call for additional directions.

Please review the prerequisites identified for a class before enrolling and read the course description for the PREREQUISITE class. If you believe your dog's current training meets the skills taught in our Basic Obedience Class, you may request a private with a Dogwood instructor to assess proper placement in our classes. The private with a Dogwood instructor is $40 and is payable in advance to the instructor. Assessments are ONLY available to place out of Basic Obedience. All other pre-req classes must be taken via the Dogwood classes.

The Beginning Obedience Class is the second class in the series of classes which help build a strong foundation for competition training. During this session your dog will continue to be challenged and his abilities increased as you introduce additional games and skills which compliment those already learned during the previous session. Whether you are training your first dog for competition or a seasoned trainer, this is the course for you! Homework sheets are provided to assist you when training away from class. Enroll in this class to continue with your dog on the road to a to a winning career!
Classes cost $125 run for 6 weeks for 50 minutes each week.

The Obedience Competition II class is a continuation of the beginning obedience series. During this session you will continue to increase your dog's desire to interact and learn while you continue to mold him into the partner you will be proud to exhibit in any competition venue. Skills which were introduced in previous sessions will continue to be refined and additional games used to build drive and focus will be introduced. Whether you plan to exhibit in the agility or obedience ring, you will find this class a necessary step on the road to success with your dog! Homework sheets are provided to assist you in training away from class.

The Obedience Competition III is the final class in the beginning obedience series. During this session you will continue to lay a solid foundation for your dog which will help you and dog prepare for a successful career in a variety of venues. Material in this class will help provide you with many more concepts including those necessary to build a strong foundation for focus and attention. Additional games and skills will be introduced, while you continue to refine and combine skills learned in previous sessions. Homework sheets are provided to assist you while training away from class.

Pre-Novice Obedience class will start working on the different parts to heeling- such as turns, pace changes, halts, figure 8 pieces and handling. Also start to introduce the concept of distractions (distractions can be rewarding) and teaching a dog to stay with its handler. Other novice exercises we work on are- Stand, Stays, Recalls, Fronts and Finishes, Set-ups, Continue with sphinx drop, Introduction to Recalls over the jumps, Cookie retrieves and Pivots.
Classes cost $70 and are On-Going for 50 minutes each week.

Novice Obedience class will start to prepare you to show in Novice, continue working on Open exercises and introduce you to Utility. Proof heeling, Ring procedure and run through, Proof recalls, Intro drop on recall, Intro jumps high and broad, Retrieves, Sit signal, Cookie marking and Teach box for the turn and sit. Students should have access to jumps for training.
Classes cost $70 per month and are on-going for 50 minutes each week.
Prerequisite: Pre-Novice

Open Class will teach and perfect, Retrieves on flat as well as over high jump, Broad Jump and Off- Leash heeling. In addition, we will Ring review ring procedure and proof all exercises as well as continue to keep the dog focsued and driven. This class also continues to build and introduce Utility exercises such as, signals, Cookie marking and go-outs. Students should have access to jumps for training.
Classes cost $70 per month and are on-going for 50 minutes each week.
