Janet Barber and OTCH First In Line, OA, OAJ, U-CDX "Kelly" In her litter, Kelly was first to the food, first to the toy, first to the people, ergo "First in Line". I had saved the call name Kelly for that special dog. I hoped that she was it, so we began. Kelly's novice career included 5 first, 2 High in Trials and a Dog World Award. She won her Open title with 4 consecutive wins and another High in Trial, out of Open A. Her Utility title was accomplished in 5 trials with with 3 firsts. The day after she won her UD, Kelly was 2nd in a huge Open B class for her first OTCH points. Kelly's career has been furthered by tthe expert guidance of Debby Quigley, Connie Cleveland and Alice Hartman. My sincerest gratitude for their expertise and support. My first shelite and I started out in Evansville, Indiana with Saturday afternoons in novice classes. Pat Higgins was the instructor. Now I'm amazed that he gave us his valuable time! His demo's with his incredible Border Collies and love of the sport of obedience spurred me on to practice harder and aim higher. Doc Harier was my next "guardian angel" and continues to this day to guide and mentor. We met at a clinic in St. Louis and he was kind enough to offer help to a "green kid". Besides Debby, Connie and Alice, many competitors also offered tips which I took to heart. Never a solo journey, our OTCH quest was one filled with good friends, good times and good dogs. Kelly and I both say "Thanks for the Memories". Janet Barber, Jandale Shelties |
