Our Puppy Obedience Start your relationship off on the right paw by enrolling in Puppy Class! A very young dog is like a sponge; ready and willing to soak up all the information you need to give him to help him to grow into a wonderful companion. The class curriculum, which is six weeks in length, is especially suited to puppies under six months of age.

Concepts and techniques introduced during class provide a balance of positive motivation and challenges which encourage a capacity for learning and build confidence. Additional information introduced will enable you to become a fair and obvious leader figure. This knowledge will help you to provide your puppy with the structure and boundaries that he needs while he becomes more aware of the world around him. Skills which will help your puppy develop impulse control are introduced during the session. These will include walk on a loose leash, sit, down, and come when called. Problem solving is also an integral part of this course. Housebreaking and inappropriate behaviors such as jumping up, chewing, biting, barking, and digging will be addressed. All students will receive a manual on the first night of class. Homework sheets and essential information on canine behavior are included in the manual.
Classes cost $125 and run for 6 weeks for 50 minutes each week.

Canine Good Citizen (CGC). Perhaps you are interested in having your dog participate in therapy dog work, agility, competitive obedience, or one or more of the many other performance events. Or, maybe your plans include taking your dog on long walks in the neighborhood, on vacation with your family, or for outings in the park. Regardless of whether your dog is destined for performance or largely for companionship, this course is a must for both of you!

The American Kennel Club launched the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program in 1989 to encourage responsible dog ownership in the United States. Over the past two decades, participation in the CGC Program has had an extremely positive impact in many communities. To encourage youth to become involved in the program, the Boy Scout organization included the CGC Program as one of the requirements for the Dog Care Merit badge. The legislators in more than a dozen states recognize the CGC program as a means of advocating responsible dog ownership and have implemented Canine Good Citizen declarations. It has become obvious this program can help to assure us that the dogs we love will be welcomed as respected members of our communities.

The CGC session, which is six weeks in length, concludes with the Canine Good Citizen Test and Evaluation. During the first five weeks of the session, students will be given detailed homework sheets at the conclusion of each lesson. Concepts and skills introduced and perfected in class include, but are not limited to, those which are necessary to successfully complete the CGC Test. Dogs and handlers who pass the CGC test are eligible to receive the Canine Good Citizen Certificate from the American Kennel Club.
Classes cost $125 and run for 6 weeks for 50 minutes each week.
