Our courses are constantly being updated and the Instructors at DOGWOOD Dog Training and Sports Center attend continuing education courses each year. We are actively involved in a variety of dog sports such as Obedience Trials, Conformation, Tracking, Agility, Flyball, Hunting Retriever Tests, Herding Trials and Field Trials and have earned many titles and awards.

The Training Center is indoors so that we are able to offer classes year-round and in all weather. Prospective students are more than welcome to drop in to watch classes in progress (please leave your pet at home). Classes are offered from 6:30pm to 8:30 PM each week Monday through Thursday. Class meets once a week for approximately 50 minutes of instruction; you will receive homework sheets to aid you as you practice the lesson at home each day. We encourage all family members to come along and learn how the exercises are taught, so that everyone may get involved in training your dog at home. Young children must be adequately supervised so that they will not wander onto the training area where they could be tripped over or accidentally startle an unsuspecting dog.

In order to provide quality instruction pre-enrollment is required. Students are accepted on a 'first-come, first served' basis and classes usually fill early. It is necessary that you come to class with your dog on a 4 to 6 foot leash and a collar that won't slip over your pets head. To ensure your pet has a pleasant experience at Dogwood, PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR PET SOCIALIZE WITH ANY OTHER DOG OR PUPPY.

Upon receipt of your enrollment form, we will telephone or email you to confirm your place in class. To enroll, please complete the on-line enrollment application form, send in a copy of your dog's current vaccination certificate for DHLP/Parvo/Corona, Rabies and Bordatella (this is for your dogs protection) and mail them, along with your check ( post dated checks are not accepted) or money order to the address above.

If, after registering, you find that you are unable to attend this course, please let us know in advance, so that another applicant may fill your place in class. Your enrollment will be canceled and your check will be voided (or you may prefer to transfer to the next available Basic Course). Make-up lessons are also available for any class missed (there is an additional charge for make-up lessons). Sorry, no refunds can be made after the first class is completed or after the class has been filled. A Transfer is available for a $40 fee to the next available Puppy or Basic class. One transfer per student. There are no transfers offered for Advanced classes. New students may not join a class once the second week has been completed. The student must attend more than half of the classes to successfully complete the class and have the class count towards pre-requisites for higher level classes. In order to receive a graduating certificate, the student must attend the 6th week of class. The staff at DOGWOOD is looking forward to helping you to train your dog.

Please fill out our on-line form to register for classes. We will confirm by email.

ALL MONTHLY CLASSES PLEASE NOTE: Any class with no specific “start” or “end” date is considered a monthly or on-going class. Tuition for all monthly classes is due no later than the 10th of each month. For the benefit of all Dogwood students, class sizes are limited. Therefore, any student whose payment is not received on or before the 10th of the month may be dropped from the class to allow space for individuals waiting to enroll in the class. The tuition fee is based upon a “four week month.” During those months with five weeks, there will be no additional charge for the “extra” class. If class is canceled during a month due to a recognized holiday, inclement weather, a national or local disaster or emergency, all students will still be required to pay the entire monthly tuition fee. The only exception to this policy is during the month of December in which no monthly classes are held.
